YouTube, It’s Black and White, and Moving Pictures

YouTube

I am tuned into YouTube nearly every day. Whether I am following a Dutch motorbike rider exploring rural Yemen, trying to figure out why my lawn mower has a starter problem or finding the craziest things like Japanese Precision Walking. Do you know the CCB has a YouTube Channel? Check out…

https://www.youtube.com/@cameraclubofbrevard4093

There you will find videos of competitions and past meetings, including the ZOOM meeting with Steve Sasson, the inventor of the hand held digital camera. In addition, I just uploaded a video of images taken by over 20 CCB members at the recent Ft. Christmas portrait workshop. We had three terrific college models and the results are amazing!

It’s Black and White

On June 3rd, the CCB welcomes Colorado photographer Cole Thompson. This will be a live ZOOM meeting at the Eau Gallie Civic Center. Cole was a ZOOM guest speaker during COVID and I remember his presentation as unpretentious and thoroughly engaging as he displayed incredible classic black & white fine art images. To quote Cole:

“At 14 years of age, I knew I was destined to be a fine art photographer. While hiking in Rochester, NY I stumbled across the ruin of an old home that George Eastman had once owned. This piqued my interest and I read his biography. I was fascinated with photography and before I had completed the book, before I had even taken a photograph or seen a print develop in the darkroom, I knew that I was going to be a photographer. For the next 10 years photography was my complete existence, if I wasn’t taking pictures or working in the darkroom, I was reading every book and looking at every image I could find. There was nothing in my life but photography.”

Please don’t miss this meeting. I truly believe you will think more about shooting in
black & white.

Moving Pictures

A reminder: By July 25 you will need to submit your videos for the August meeting.
They can be up to a minute or so, or more if the story is warranted. Personally I am
going to submit a series of shorts (15-30 seconds). Don’t forget to use your video
options on both your DSLR and smartphones. Submit your MP4 files to
photos@ccbrevard.com by July 25. If you have questions, please contact Richard
Thomson at richard@rwtphoto.com. Additionally you can click on https://

Stay focused,
John
