It’s Like Déjà Vu All Over Again

Well, it’s like Déjà Vu all over again.  Classic, I know.  But a great way to emphasize a recurring event.  What am I referring to in CCB?  Well, the December classic event we all anticipate all year… the Annual Print Competition!

Often shortened to just APC, this is the CCB event that tops off the year in grand fashion, and brings the whole club together to kick off the holiday season with a great dinner, great camaraderie, and a chance to review prints of some of the best images by our club members!  Although the subjects of the prints in the competition can go back two years, often it is some of the more contemporary work that is highlighted at this event.

With two distinct divisions (Color and Black & White) we get a chance to see the entire spectrum of talent from our club members.  We will have First, Second and Third place in each of the two major divisions, along with an “Award of Distinction” in each of ten special categories.  These are: Landscape; Flora; Fauna – Avian; Fauna – (Other than Avian); Macro; Urban (includes buildings, structures, architecture); Abstract; People/Persons; Fine Art; and Creative (Defined as images that have been obviously manipulated to present an altered reality from the original photograph).

Also, there will be  two “People’s Choice Awards”.  These will be awarded from all the photographs entered in the competition.  The voting for this award will take place during the APC event itself. All attendees will have one vote for Black and White and one vote for Color photographs.

So the window of opportunity to submit your prints is getting VERY small.  All entries (mounted/matted) must be submitted (along with $10 per print entry fee) at the November 3rd monthly meeting.  Tickets for the APC itself are $25 per person when purchased in advance, and $30 at the door.

So kick off your holiday season right, by planning to attend the APC on December 5th, and getting your best Color and/or Black & White prints submitted this November for the APC!
