Insight: In Sight

How do you envision a photograph? What goes through your mind when you see a subject you want to photograph? Do you have a mental checklist for reference when you spot a potential image? Do you have the ability to “see” a subject differently than most people? Do you find yourself noticing things other people don’t see?
On May 6th, CCB member John Buck will shed some light on his personal process for capturing photos. John will use his Facebook cover photos as examples of everyday photography he has taken in the past two years. These are images from his backyard, travels and life as it unfolds before him. These photographs are typical of 90% of the photos all of us take all the time.
In his presentation John will reveal and discuss his personal approach and the process he uses to capture a selected subject.
John has a BS in Advertising Design and an MA in Visual Communication. His career includes experience in art studios, ad agencies, printing, university education and ultimately as a contract photographer for Eastman Kodak Company. Currently he is the president of the Camera Club of Brevard and a member of the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery.

Cole Thompson
Cole Thompson is uniquely unqualified to speak on photography.
“I’ve never taken a photography class or a workshop. I don’t have a degree in art. I’ve never worked as a photographer. I don’t have gallery representation. I’m not a Canon Explorer of Light. And I only have three lenses and none of them are primes.
Do I have any qualifications?
Just one…my images. Nothing else matters.”

2nd Annual Video Extravaganza!

The Camera Club of Brevard’s August 5th program meeting will feature
Short Videos produced by our very own club members. To continue the
CCB’s effort for members to learn additional forms of photography, and to
explore all the capabilities of our digital cameras, the CCB will showcase
short videos created by our members during our August meeting.
To participate in this entertaining program, all members are invited to
submit their videos to the CCB. To submit your videos, see information
below.
Video Guidelines and how to send your video to the CCB
Videos should be up-to one minute in length
Videos can be one continuous scene, or multiple scenes
The CCB is looking for short videos… nothing fancy
You may send up-to 3 videos for the August meeting
Due date for videos is Friday, July 25th.
Include original audio in your video, or use music of your liking.
You will need to use a video editor to incorporate multiple scenes
and/or music in your video. To learn more about how to edit your video, review your
camera/phone manual or watch YouTube videos about editing videos.
It’s always nice to learn new things!
Send your video to the CCB in MP4 format at high-definition quality;
i.e. 1080, HD, High Definition, etc. Or, send your video to the CCB in
any format, and we will try to convert it to a MP4 file.
You will need to upload your video to WeTransfer. Videos will not
email due to their very large file size.
Here’s the link to WeTransfer https://wetransfer.com/
When you are in the WeTransfer site, use the CCB’s photos email
address [email protected]. Then, upload your video to
WeTransfer.
Richard Thomson will acknowledge your video was received.
