Are you stuck in a rut?

This phrase is sometimes used to describe a photographer who has a single, or very narrow field of interest.  I, for one, seem to shoot quite a few rocket launch images.  Am I stuck in a rut?  Not hardly!  You may notice I also take quite a few nature/bird images in and around Black Point Drive.  Well, there’s two!

But I also enjoy basic landscape shooting, and want to shoot more people images too.  The point is, you are only stuck in a rut if that’s the way you feel.  If you are making genuine efforts to expand your interest repertoire, then you are not really stuck . . . you’re just “working on it.”

This is where CCB comes in.  Just hang around CCB members and you will quickly find out which ones are experienced in that arena you want to get into.  Also, we have photo outings and sessions on many different topics where you can link up with other members who may have more experience in that area you want to expand into.  Link up and learn from those experts!

Also, if you are one of those “experts,” please come and participate when we have an outing on the topic you are already well versed in.  Your experience will go a long way in helping those who want to expand their knowledge and understanding in that area.  What may seem simple to you, could be very intimidating to a club member just starting out in that arena.

So, don’t ever stay “stuck in a rut,” whether a rookie or one of our experienced club members.  Get out of your self imposed rut, or reach out and help others out of theirs.  It’s what we do!
