Ready Or Not, Here We Go!

I just got a call from John Buck . . . turns out, this really isn’t a simulation or “what if” drill.  Sort of like when we were kids and were walking along, minding our own business, and one of our siblings jumped out from behind the bushes, tapped us on the shoulder and yelled, “TAG!  You’re it!!”

Well, with that, I am really genuinely excited about taking the reins as CCB President again (Now I know how the president feels as both 45 and 47 . . . but I digress).  The last time I was in this chair, there was this COVID thing going on, and ZOOM suddenly became “a thing” and not some cartoon soundtrack.

With all that said, I would like to thank all of the folks, both in front of and behind the scenes who have worked so hard to keep this camera club not only surviving, but flourishing and growing.  But I’d especially like to thank John Buck who had the unenviable task of following me the last time.  He truly is the face of the CCB, not only at our monthly meetings, but at the numerous meetings and gatherings of camera club related events at neighboring counties and across Florida.  The “behind the scenes” work he has done has been remarkable, and yet is often transparent to the average member.  So please, next time you see him at a meeting, photo shoot, or other gathering make a point to say “Thanks John”.  No need to say more, he’ll know what you mean.

Looking forward, one of my goals is to attract more (especially younger) members to the club.  The art of photography is a skill and talent that with interest, practice and nurturing can reflect our vision in life.  We can create unique perspectives . . . capturing the humorous, or interesting or story-telling images of everyday life.  I would like to convey to everyone that there is more to just snapping a cell phone pic, there is the artistry of photography.

So mixing in another childhood metaphor . . . “Here we go!  Ready or not!!”
