Planning ahead is pretty solid advice and here at the CCB your board of directors is tasked with this responsibility. How about you? Here are a few opportunities for you as a camera club member to think about and plan for in the coming months.
October 7 Competition
In this competition, anything goes! It’s “open” to any photograph you have taken in the past 18 months. No theme. You may enter your photo in either Class A or B, depending on your skill level, plus you may enter a photo in the Creative category. What is “creative”? As defined on our website: The Creative Class is designed for images that have been obviously manipulated to present an altered reality image from the original photograph. In order to submit an image into the Creative category, you now must include the original or “before”image in addition to your entry image. We are now requiring this additional
information to help our judging and peer reviews. Without this information, we have no basis for judging.
November 4 Competition
The theme is “Light & Shadow.” Better get out there now and find that perfect shot. APC prints due also!
December 6 Annual Print Competition (APC)
This is our premier competition for the year and our only print contest with cash awards. Entries are to be submitted at the November 4 meeting; it’s coming soon! Make sure you have time for matting your photos. Maximum photo size is 15”. Be sure to make a note of the print categories so you can make the proper selections for entries. Contest rules are on our website at https://ccbrevard.org/competition-guidelines/.
January 6 Slide Show Extravaganza
A CCB favorite for many years is the annual slide show by members. Up to 12 very different and very creative slide shows with music highlight the evening. This meeting is about us; our travels, imagination and our story-telling skills. If you want to participate, email info@ccbrevard.com.
Don’t forget to plan for our field trips!
October 25: A day at Daytona, including a track tour (9:30am) and a visit to the Southeastern Museum of Photography. If time allows, we will visit the Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens as well.
Stay focused!
John
