Dudley Farm Fied Trip Step back in Time and Join Us on Saturday, 08 September 2018 at 9:30 AM at D udley Farm Historic State Park located in North Central Florida in Alachua County (3 miles west of Jonesville). Just short of a three hour drive from Merritt Island up I-75. The photography will be fantastic all around the farm! Dudley Farm is an early pioneer farm established before the Civil War. Currently it covers 325 of the original 640 acres that were operated by the Dudley family for three generations. An authentic working farm, the homestead consists of eighteen buildings. These are restored - NOT recreated - and include the family farmhouse with original furnishings, an 1880's kitchen outbuilding, a general store and post office, and a cane syrup complex. You may see park staff in period clothing perform daily chores, raising crops, and tending to livestock. The farm features seasonal cane grindings, corn shuckings, and heritage varieties of livestock and plants. Deer, wild turkeys, gopher tortoises, and bluebirds are still seen in the fields. Take a quiet, meditative walk through the diverse habitat of the Dudley Farm woodlands on the .3 mile loop trail near the Visitor Center Picnic Area. Feel what it is like to till the earth, plow a field, plant a crop, bring the harvest in, and experience what life was like before the Civil War. This is a well-preserved piece of Central Florida history. Additionally, Dudley Farm features a Gift Shop, nursery of plants and a Visitors Center. Admission Fees - $5.00/vehicle (up to 8 passengers). 18730 W. Newberry Road Newberry, FL 32669 352-472-1142 Saturday, 08 September 2018 at 9:30 AM Please meet at Entrance
